A generic, evergreen tour is fine for most of the year, but peak-season trading, Christmas retail, a summer garden centre, a wedding venue's outdoor season, is a different marketing moment entirely, and a generic tour doesn't reflect what a visitor will actually find if they come during it.

A seasonal capture shows the site exactly as it's trying to attract visitors right now, not a year-round approximation.

  • Peak-season trading looks meaningfully different from the rest of the year, and a generic tour doesn't show that
  • A seasonal capture (Christmas displays, summer grounds) shows the site at its most compelling for that moment
  • Timing the shoot matters: capture near the peak of the season, not weeks before it's set up
  • Many businesses capture twice a year, an evergreen version plus a seasonal refresh

Why generic doesn't cut it in peak season

A garden centre's Christmas grotto, a restaurant's festive menu and decorations, a venue's summer terrace in full use, none of these are reflected in a standard year-round tour, and a visitor deciding whether to make a seasonal trip is specifically trying to picture the seasonal version, not the empty off-peak one.

Getting the timing right

Capture near the actual peak of the season, once displays are fully set and the site looks the way it will for most of the trading period, not weeks before everything's finished going up. A capture too early shows a half-dressed version that undersells exactly the thing you're trying to promote.

The two-capture approach

Many seasonal businesses capture twice: an evergreen tour that stays accurate year-round, plus a seasonal refresh for the specific weeks that matter most commercially. That way the everyday listing stays honest, and the peak-season push gets content that's genuinely built for it.

Questions people ask

When should we schedule a seasonal shoot?

As close to the peak of the season as practical, once displays and decorations are fully in place, so the capture reflects what most visitors will actually see during the trading period.

Do we need to reshoot the whole site for a seasonal update, or just the changed areas?

Usually just the changed areas, seasonal displays, decorated zones, outdoor spaces coming into use, rather than the whole site from scratch.
