One is a route someone else chose. The other hands you the wheel.

A video walkthrough and a virtual tour both let someone see a space without visiting, but they hand over control differently. A video shows the route the filmmaker chose, at the pace they chose, with music and pacing doing real persuasive work. A tour lets the visitor decide both the route and the pace themselves.

Neither is strictly better, they're suited to different jobs.

  • Video: stronger emotional pull, better for social sharing and passive viewing
  • Virtual tour: stronger for genuine research, letting a visitor check exactly what they care about
  • A video is watched once; a tour gets revisited when someone wants to check a specific detail
  • Many businesses benefit from both, used at different points in the decision

What a video does better

A well-edited video builds mood in a way a tour, by its self-directed nature, can't quite replicate: music, pacing, a deliberate reveal, all carrying real emotional weight. It's also better suited to passive consumption, someone scrolling social media isn't going to stop and actively explore a tour, but they will watch a well-paced 30-second video.

What a tour does better

Once someone's genuinely interested and doing real research, a tour lets them check exactly what they care about, the size of a specific room, whether a particular corner works for their needs, at their own pace and in their own order. A video can't be redirected mid-watch the way a tour can be explored, which matters once someone's past the initial emotional pull and into practical evaluation.

Using both, at different points

A common, effective pattern: a short video for social media and the top of the funnel, doing the emotional work of getting someone interested, and a full tour on the website or Google Business Profile for the person who's now genuinely considering and wants to look properly. They're not competing formats, they're doing different jobs in the same journey.

Questions people ask

Which one should we book first if budget only allows one?

It depends on where your current gap is: if you're struggling to generate initial interest, a video for social and ads may matter more. If people are interested but hesitant to commit, a tour that lets them properly evaluate the space usually matters more.

Can footage from one be reused for the other?

Not directly, a video shoot and a 360 tour shoot use different equipment and techniques, though booking both in the same visit is more cost-effective than two separate shoots.

I used Biztour to get virtual tours done of all our coworking spaces and I am so pleased with how they turned out! They were super communicative, and really flexible to help us hit our deadlines.
