How Many Photos Does a Business Actually Need?

Fewer, better photos usually beat a large, uneven set.

There's no fixed magic number, but there's a genuinely useful principle: every photo on a listing or website should be doing a specific job, showing a distinct area, a specific feature, a genuine reason someone would choose you. A large set padded with near-duplicate angles doesn't help, it just makes the good photos harder to find.

  • Every photo should show something distinct, not a slightly different angle of the same thing
  • For most small businesses, 15 to 25 well-chosen images covers a space thoroughly
  • Quality and coverage matter more than raw count
  • A virtual tour handles thorough exploration better than an ever-growing photo set

The 'one of everything' trap

It's tempting to upload every reasonably decent photo from a shoot, but a set with three near-identical angles of the same corner does nothing a single good photo of that corner wouldn't, and it buries the images that actually matter under redundant ones. Curate for distinctness, not volume.

A reasonable working number

For most small, single-location businesses, somewhere between 15 and 25 well-chosen images covers every genuinely distinct area and feature without padding. Larger, multi-zone businesses naturally need more, but the principle holds: each image should earn its place, not just fill a gallery.

Where a tour beats an ever-growing photo set

Once someone wants to genuinely explore a space thoroughly, a virtual tour does that job better than an ever-expanding photo gallery ever will, letting them look around at will rather than scrolling through dozens of curated stills trying to build a mental picture. The two work together: a tight, distinct photo set for quick scanning, a tour for anyone who wants the fuller picture.

Questions people ask

Is it bad to have too many photos on our listing?

Not harmful exactly, but a large, unfiltered set tends to bury the genuinely good images and gives a scattered, unconsidered impression compared to a tighter, curated selection.

Should every room get the same number of photos?

No, allocate coverage based on genuine relevance, a reception area or a flagship room might reasonably get several angles, a small storage corridor doesn't need any.

I used Biztour to get virtual tours done of all our coworking spaces and I am so pleased with how they turned out! They were super communicative, and really flexible to help us hit our deadlines.
