Photography vs video

Photography and video are not competing versions of the same thing. Stills are used everywhere and cost less; film carries feeling and costs more. The right question is not which one, but which one first.

The short answer

Start with photography

  • You need images across a website, listings and socials
  • Budget is tight and coverage matters most
  • Assets need to last and be reused endlessly
  • You want the widest use from a single shoot

Start with video

  • You are launching something and need impact
  • The story needs movement, people or sound

Stills do more jobs; film does one job harder

A set of photographs ends up on your website, your Google listing, your portal listings, your social channels, your pitch decks and your print. You buy them once and use them for years, which is why photography is the higher-value purchase for most businesses despite costing less.

Video does something photographs cannot: it carries atmosphere, movement and sound. For a launch, an event or a business whose product is a feeling rather than a place, that is the difference between interest and indifference. It starts at £1,450 because it is a production, not a shoot.

Why they are cheaper together

Booking both in the same visit costs less than two separate shoots, because the expensive parts are the travel, the setup and the time on site, and you only pay for those once. The space is already dressed and lit, and the team is already there.

If budget forces a choice, we usually suggest photography first for the coverage, then video once there is something specific to say.

Questions people ask

How much does commercial photography cost?

Photography starts at £650, covering interior, exterior, property, event or lifestyle work. The final figure depends on how much of the space you want covered.

How much does video production cost?

Video production starts at £1,450. Product video is quoted from £2,000 because of the additional setup and post-production involved.

Can I get both from one visit?

Yes, and it is the most common way clients book. One visit, one setup, both sets of assets, at less than the cost of commissioning them separately.

I used Biztour to get virtual tours done of all our coworking spaces and I am so pleased with how they turned out! They were super communicative, and really flexible to help us hit our deadlines.
